On June 27, 2022, Nicolas "Nik" Coates began his role as Deputy City Manager-Public Services for the City of Lebanon. While he is involved in a number of issues, Nik’s main responsibility is the oversight of the Department of Public Works which is composed of four divisions: Municipal Services, Solid Waste Disposal, Water Treatment, and Wastewater Treatment. The operating budget is just over $17 million with 50+ employees.  

Before coming to work for the City of Lebanon, Nik served as the Town Administrator for the Town of Bristol, New Hampshire, where he worked since 2016, managing eight departments and overseeing 60+ employees. Prior to his employment with Bristol, Nik served as Executive Director for the New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissions; as Active Living Coordinator for the Foundation for Healthy Communities; and as a Principal Planner for the Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission with a focus on Transportation.

Nik possesses a Master of Arts from Northeastern University and serves on a number of boards and committees in the State including the State of NH Housing and Community Development Planning Council, the Grafton Regional Development Corp. Board of Directors, and as Chair of the Grafton County Broadband Committee.
