WEST LEBANON– Building upon the success of the Trails + Trucks series this past summer that helped launch the publicly accessible trail network at River Park West Lebanon, the Friends of River Park (Friends) and Lebanon Recreation & Parks Department (Leb Rec) are working together to expand public recreational access year-round.

Starting this winter, the Leb Rec will groom the River Park trails for cross-country skiing, improving winter access to over 2 miles of trails. The plan will use the Department’s existing equipment and function similarly to the public/private arrangement with the trails at the Alice Peck Day Hospital property.

“Credit to Paul Coats at Leb Rec for bringing this great winter outdoor opportunity to River Park,” said Chet Clem of Lyme Properties, the developer of River Park. “He’s been leading the charge to groom cross-country trails elsewhere in the City and floated the grooming idea to one of the Friends of River Park Board Members. Within 24-hours it went from an idea to a plan.”

The final trails will be determined upon snowfall but are expected to roughly follow the Green trail around the Upper Meadow and the Blue trail down to the Riverfront that were launched in the summer of 2020. A map of the trail network is available here.  Parking is available just across the street via Simple Energy's parking lot on the corner of Maple Street and N. Main Street.
