The Lebanon Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit conducted an investigation through a social media provider targeting individuals who were looking to victimize children.
Lebanon Police officers engaged in a conversation via social media with a male who was later identified as: Nathan Malmquist, age 39 of Lebanon, NH.
This investigation led to Malmquist arriving at a local park to meet a person that he thought was a juvenile for sexual acts on February 11, 2019.
Malmquist was taken into custody and charged with Certain Uses of Computer Services Prohibited, Attempted Felonious Sexual Assault, and Attempted Indecent Exposure and Lewdness, all Class B Felonies. Malmquist was also charged with Attempted Sexual Assault, a Class A Misdemeanor. Malmquist was held overnight in preventative detention and was arraigned this morning in the Grafton County Superior Court where he was held on $20,000 cash bail.
The Lebanon Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit will continue to prosecute those who use the internet to sexually exploit children. The Lebanon Police Department is an affiliate of the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce (ICAC).
