New Police K-9 Joins the Force
A new Police K9 has joined the Lebanon Police Department. K-9 Blesk is a one-year-old male Belgian Malinois that was born in Slovakia and imported into the United States in November of 2017.
K-9 Blesk will be partnered with his handler, Senior Officer Jeremy Perkins. Officer Perkins most recently worked with K-9 Max, who succumbed to cancer on December 11, 2017. K-9 Blesk was selected after a long vetting process that involved numerous K-9 candidates.
The Belgian Malinois is known for being a very tenacious, high energy, intelligent and friendly working dog. K-9 Blesk will be dual trained in both drug detection and patrol functions at the Vermont Police Canine Academy in Pittsford, Vermont beginning in February of 2018. Upon completing training, Officer Perkins and K-9 Blesk will be assigned to the Patrol Bureau.
