[ARCHIVED] Consideration of Complete Streets Policy (Draft)

As part of our efforts to implement the City’s Master Plan over the last year, the Planning Department has worked closely with the Pedestrian & Bicyclist Advisory Committee (PBAC), the Planning Board, and other City departments to draft a Complete Streets policy for consideration by the City Council. Department staff have also attended several workshops to better understand the features and benefits of Complete Streets.

At the January 4th City Council meeting, the Planning Department will discuss Complete Streets and recommend that the City Council consider adopting a Complete Streets policy as a means of implementing the City’s Master Plan and to ensure that all transportation needs are addressed in all roadway projects so that attractive and safe facilities are available throughout the community. If the Council elects to move forward with adopting a Complete Streets policy, a public hearing would be scheduled pursuant to the Council’s typical procedures for passage of ordinances or other legislation.
