The Lebanon Police Department held a Swearing In and Awards Ceremony today in the department's training room. Officer Tyler Hewes and K9 Kymba were recognized for graduating from the Vermont Police Academy's K9 Training Program. Officer Hewes and K9 Kymba received training on Basic Tracking and Patrol along with Drug Detection. Officer Hewes and Kymba are assigned to the Patrol Bureau.

Newly hired police officers Jay Pike and Willie Harden were also sworn in during this ceremony by Police Chief Richard Mello. Officer Pike is a graduate of Elmira College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Harden is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Boston where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. Both Officers Pike and Harden will attend the New Hampshire Full-Time Police Academy beginning in January of 2018.
