As part of the Planning Department’s ongoing efforts to implement the City’s 2012 Master Plan, on October 4th, the City Council was presented with a set of proposed Zoning Map and text amendments for initial consideration. The proposed amendments have been under review by the Planning Board, Planning Department, and the Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Master Plan (SCIMP) for much of the past year.
Following the presentation, the City Council agreed to move the proposed amendments forward for further review. Pursuant to the Zoning Ordinance Amendment process (Section 1000), the City’s Land Use Boards will be reviewing the proposed amendments at the following meetings:
- Conservation Commission –November 9, 2017.
- Zoning Board – November 20, 2017.
- Planning Board - November 27, 2017.
On January 3, 2018, once review has been completed by the Land Use Boards, the City Council will hold a work session to review the amendments in advance of their required public hearing. On January 17, 2018, the Council will hold a public hearing followed by a vote on whether to adopt the amendments and/or to place them on the March 2018 ballot for referendum vote.
As part of the review process, the City Council has asked that every property owner whose property may be impacted by the proposed map amendments be notified, by certified mail, of the review process and schedule. Your property has been identified as one such property.
Information about the proposed amendments can be found in the agenda packet materials for the City Council’s October 4th meeting. All meetings listed above are open to the public and you are encouraged to attend to ask questions and/or provide comment.
