The New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission (PUC) recently issued its long awaited order in its proceeding to develop new net metering tariffs (terms and conditions) for renewable distributed generation (DG) such as rooftop solar photovoltaic systems (PV). Generally the decision sets the state on a progressive path forward that should provide benefits to all customers, regardless of whether they net meter or not. For conventionally net metered systems, there is only a modest decrease in the value proposition for net metering, and in some cases the value could be enhanced compared to current net metering tariffs.
The PUC also endorsed the City of Lebanon’s proposed pilot using municipal aggregation to enable small and large retail customers within the City to access real time pricing (RTP) and new forms of net metering for community solar and other renewable DG.
