On Thursday, August 17, 2017, Lebanon Police Officers responded to the shopping plaza at 254 Plainfield Road for a report of an altercation taking place between two males. Subsequent callers to the police department described one male having been stabbed during the fight.
Responding officers found one victim, a 32 year-old Lebanon man, who had non-life threatening injuries to his hands and legs. Investigation at the scene revealed that the tw
o male subjects are known to each other and that the altercation resulted after the suspect observed the victim with a former girlfriend. The suspect followed the victim to the plaza at 254 Plainfield Road and confronted the victim while he was seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle. The suspect began to punch the victim through the passenger side of the vehicle and then produced a folding knife, with which he began to stab at the victim. The injuries sustained by the victim were defensive in nature and he refused medical treatment at the scene.
Robert E. Walker, age 34, of Hancock, Vermont was arrested nearby after attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle. Walker is charged with First Degree Assault, a Class A Felony, along with Second Degree Assault and Criminal Threatening, both Class B Felonies. Walker will be transported to the Grafton County House of Corrections pending arraignment tomorrow in the Grafton County Superior Court.
