Lebanon Community Power is open for enrollment!
Lebanon Community Power reduces the cost of electricity and gives local ratepayers options to buy cleaner power. An informational letter from the City has been mailed to all Lebanon residents, organizations, and businesses explaining this new program. Information about the program, including two videos about Community Power, can be found on the City's website at LebanonNH.gov/LCP.
Community Informational Meeting
You are also invited to a public meeting to explain Community Power and to answer your questions on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, hosted by the Lebanon Energy Advisory Committee. To participate remotely, please visit LebanonNH.gov/Live.
Here are the basics: Residents and small businesses will be automatically enrolled in Lebanon Community Power with a few exceptions. If you have contracted with a competitive supplier instead of Liberty Utilities or have a Liberty Utilities account that uses net metering or time-of-use rates, you will not be enrolled in Lebanon Community Power at this time, but you may join later. See Lebanon.CommunityPowerNH.gov for more information. Large commercial customers must opt-in to join Community Power.
For everyone else, all four rate plans in Community Power offer savings and choices. Unless you choose a cleaner plan, you will automatically be enrolled in the Granite Basic plan. Compared with Liberty’s current electric rate for residential accounts of 22 cents per kWh, Granite Basic is 15.8 cents per kWh – a 28% savings on the cost of power. Granite Basic includes 23% renewable power – the same as Liberty.
But you can choose 33% renewable and carbon-free power by opting up to the Granite Plus plan to help Lebanon reduce greenhouse gases and fight global warming. And you’ll still reduce your power costs by 26% compared with Liberty. Or opt up to the Clean 50 plan for 50% renewable and carbon-free power and still save 23% in power costs compared with Liberty. The Clean 100 plan offers 100% renewable and carbon-free power with a 13% savings on power costs.
Here is what that means in dollars if you use 600 kWh per month: Compared with Liberty’s rates, the average household would save $37 per month with Granite Basic, or save $35 per month with Granite Plus, or $31 per month with the Clean 50 plan, or save $17 each month with Clean 100 percent renewable and carbon-free power.
Liberty’s rates may change occasionally, and Community Power may adjust its rates in response. But you have the power of choice – you can opt out of Community Power to return to Liberty Utilities, or opt back into Community Choice, or opt up or down among the four Community Power plans at any time. It’s your choice.
