Connecticut River Water Rescue

On January 25th, 2023, at 6:20 pm a multi-agency water rescue response was activated for a single vehicle in the Connecticut River in Plainfield, New Hampshire.  

Water Rescue Teams from Plainfield, New Hampshire Fire Department, Hartford, Vermont Fire Department, Hanover, New Hampshire Fire Department, Lebanon, New Hampshire Fire Department, Windsor, Vermont Fire Department, Hartland, Vermont Fire Department, and Cornish Rescue responded to the scene assisted by Plainfield Police Department.

The single occupant of the vehicle was located on the roof of the vehicle approximately 300 feet from shore. A rescue boat was deployed by the Hanover Fire Department and rope rescue systems were built by the remaining departments.  The rescue boat reached the occupant and assisted them into the boat and back to shore. The occupant was evaluated and refused medical treatment. There were no injuries to responders.  All agencies cleared the scene at 7:57 pm.
