On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, the Lebanon Police Department responded to a report about two people that had been assaulted. It was also reported that the male had brandished a knife while making threatening statements toward the people.
Arriving Officers were met by a female party in the driveway of the residence. She directed the Officers to the house, however, before Officers reached the entrance, the male exited the residence and approached the Officers in an aggressive manner. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the male continued to confront them and then grabbed one of the Officers by the arm. When the male was advised that he was under arrest, he punched an Officer in the face, causing a laceration above the eye.
The male continued to fail to comply with the Officers’ orders and a taser was deployed. Officers were then able to take the male into custody. While in custody, the male continued to attempt to assault them. He was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment.
The male was identified as Scott Truman, age 40, from Lebanon, NH.
Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained, charging Truman with six counts of Simple Assault and Obstructing Report of Crime or Injury, all Class A Misdemeanors. A charge of Criminal Threatening with A Deadly Weapon, a Class B Felony was also included. Additionally, he is being charged with two counts of Simple Assault on A Police Officer, a Class A Misdemeanor, which carries an enhanced penalty.
Truman was taken into custody this afternoon and held on preventative detention. He will be arraigned on the above chargers in the Grafton County Superior Court on Monday, August 1, 2022.
