At their 03/23/2022 City Council meeting, the Council voted to rescind Ordinance #2021-09, Face Masks. Effective today, March 24, 2022, face masks are no longer required in the City of Lebanon. Individuals may choose whether they would like to continue wearing a mask, and business owners have the choice of whether to require masks within their establishments.
With the rescission of Ordinance 2021-09, face masks are no longer required in any City building EXCEPT for Lebanon Libraries (as further explained below) and the Lebanon Airport which is required to follow federal TSA laws requiring masks until April 18, 2022.
The Library Board of Trustees voted at their Tuesday, March 22nd meeting to remove the library mask mandate should the City Council rescind the citywide mandate at the meeting on Wednesday, March 23rd. The Library Board voted to implement said change on Monday, March 28th, or when the City Council made their decision effective, whichever date was later. Given the City Council vote to rescind the mandate, masks will be welcome but not required at the libraries as of Monday the 28th.
Understanding that this has been a challenging time for all with many different points of view, we thank you for your patience as we worked through the public hearing process.
