On April 30, 2017, Lebanon Police responded to a Criminal Threatening call in the Miracle Mile Plaza in West Lebanon. The caller reported that another man had pointed a gun at him during a dispute over a parking space and then fled the area. The caller was able to provide the dispatch center with a description of the vehicle.
A short time later, a Lebanon Officer located the vehicle traveling south on Interstate 89. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Dylan Derego, age 21, of Lyme, New Hampshire.
During the investigation, officers learned that Derego had taken issue with a car that had been parked in a handicap space in the Miracle Mile Plaza. The driver of the parked car exited his vehicle and as Derego was leaving, the two exchanged words. During the brief exchange, Derego pulled and allegedly pointed a semi-automatic handgun on the other driver. Based on information gathered at the scene, there was no evidence that the other driver had a weapon or made any threats to justify Derego brandishing the handgun.
Derego was arrested and charged with a Class B Felony of Criminal Threatening with a Deadly Weapon. He was released on $2,500 cash bail and is due to be arraigned in the Grafton County Superior Court on May 15, 2017.
