New Solid Waste Fees for 2021
Lebanon City Council recently approved amended fees for the Lebanon Solid Waste Facility to be effective January 1, 2021.
What will the new fees be?
The fee for disposal of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) is going up 1 percent. Processing costs for items such as tires, electronic wastes, and fluorescent lamps are going up. For complete details please review the 2021 Updated Fee Schedule.
Minimum load charges for use of the facility scale will also be implemented beginning January 1, 2021. When using the vehicle scale, a 200 lb. minimum charge will be applied. Please see the 2021 Updated Fee Schedule for more information.
Why are Solid Waste fees changing?
Current solid waste markets are changing, and disposal costs are on the rise. The value of “airspace” at the Lebanon landfill is increasing as disposal capacity in the region dwindles. As a result, fees for processing MSW and other materials need to be updated. The rates as approved by the City Council will move our rates to a more reasonable market rate which will increase revenues to help pay for costs associated with increased operating and regulation of the facility.
What isn’t changing?
The cost for punch cards is not changing and a bag of household trash will remain "one bag, one punch". Fees for disposal of Construction and Demolition debris and bulky waste (mattresses and furniture) will also remain at the current rates.
New Food Scrap Program
Beginning January 1, 2021, the Solid Waste Facility will also begin accepting household food scraps. Please visit our Food Waste Drop-Off Program page for more details.
