[ARCHIVED] Recreation & Parks Director Receives Rotary Honor

Paul Coats holding Rotary Award

On October 22, 2020, Paul Coats, the Director of Lebanon Recreation and Parks, received the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Recognition. Lebanon Rotarian Bruce Bergeron, the owner of Jake’s Market and Deli, had the honor of presenting the award. Paul was recognized for the profound difference he has made in the Upper Valley community. He has been a true steward of the parks, athleticism, and recreation for Lebanon residents and, more specifically, Lebanon youth.

Paul Coats, who served as Recreation Coordinator from his arrival in 2001 through 2010 and as the Recreation and Parks Director from 2010 until the present, recently celebrated his 10 year anniversary as Director.

Paul is a tireless worker who is passionate about his job. He can be found at events and activities all over the City, and his presence in our community has made a positive impact since his arrival. Building our community through recreation is the fuel that keeps him going.

“I am truly honored to be recognized in this way,” Coats said, “and I have long admired the good work that Rotary performs for the Lebanon community.”

Paul was nominated by Rotarian Jim Damren, who said “Paul has made a profound difference in our community. I have been a long-time fan of his stewardship of the parks, athletics, and recreation for the residents of Lebanon and most specifically its youth.”

Rotary Club President Ron Bedell said, “We are delighted to bestow this honor on Paul; he is an exceedingly worthy recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow.”

The City of Lebanon echoes these sentiments and expresses its heartfelt gratitude for Paul's service as well as the continued dedication, contributions, and leadership he and his entire team bring to our community.
