[ARCHIVED] Flood Safety Preparedness & Awareness

Before a Flood

Did you know flooding is the 2nd leading cause of weather-related fatalities in the United States? Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock over an adult and only 18 inches of flowing water can carry away most vehicles including large SUVs. Did you know you can live miles away from water and still be a victim of flooding?

March 20th-24th was Flood Awareness Week in New Hampshire. Take a few moments to review our Flood Safety page to find out what you need to know before, during, and after a flood. Learn more about the Turn Around Don't Drown campaign as well as what homeowners need to know about protecting their homes and download the Red Cross Flood app.
