On February 19, 2017, the Lebanon Police Department received a report regarding a juvenile who had been sexually extorted via social media. The Lebanon Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit investigated the incident.
During their investigation, the Lebanon Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit learned that the suspect had sent and solicited sexually explicit content to the juvenile. The Lebanon Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit was able to determine that the suspect was communicating with the juvenile from India. As a result, the investigation was referred to the authorities in India.
The Lebanon Police Department was later informed that Ansari Altmash Mohammad Asrar, age 30, of Idgah Road, Near Anwar Madina Masjid, Bhiwandi, Thane, Maharashtra, India had been arrested.
The Lebanon Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit will continue to prosecute those who use the internet to sexually exploit children. The Lebanon Police Department is an affiliate of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
