[ARCHIVED] Ward 1 Moderator Needed

New Hampshire Votes Graphic

There will be a vacancy for the position of Moderator in Ward 1 for the November 3, 2020 General Election. Although the Moderator is an elected position, vacancies are filled by appointment through the next Municipal Election in March 2021, at which time he or she would be required to file and run for the position for the full two-year term.

The Moderator oversees the election process within their ward under the guidance of the City Clerk and the Secretary of State’s office. Their duties include, but are not limited to: announcing the opening and closing of the polls; assigning roles as needed to election workers; processing absentee ballots; presiding over the ballot box and assisting voters with their questions and concerns.

The current commitment is for the following elections: September 8, 2020 State Primary, November 3, 2020 General Election and March 2021 Municipal and School Election. In general, during a two-year elected term the commitment is one to four days a year, depending upon the election cycle.

Previous experience is not required; training will be available from the existing Moderator during the State Primary and by the City Clerk. To qualify for this role, you must be a registered voter in Ward 1. (Ward 1 votes at the Kilton Public Library.) If you are interested or would like more information on this position, please contact City Clerk Kristin Kenniston at 603-448-3054 or Kristin.kenniston@lebanonnh.gov.
