On Saturday, May 9, 2020, at approximately 12:00 PM, the Lebanon Police Department received a 911 call from a lost hiker. The hiker had left from a trailhead off from Loop Road but had become lost and her phone had low battery. It was 34 degrees out, sleeting, and wet.
K9 Officer Perkins and K9 Blesk started a lost person track, accompanied by Officer Hunter. The hiker’s driver’s side door seam on her vehicle was used as a scent article to start a track from the vehicle. K9 Blesk tracked into the trailhead, and to an intersection with two other trails. K9 Blesk took the trail to the right and continued tracking, bypassing several other trails, until the hiker was found safe.
The hiker was able to follow officers out of the trail to her vehicle and refused any medical assistance.
