January 15, 2020, Lebanon, NH: At 2026 hours the Lebanon Fire Department received municipal box 412, Boulders Apartments at 20 Wolf Road, Building D. Upon arrival the Lebanon Police Department reported smoke visible from a 1st floor apartment. The officer on scene assisted with evacuating residents until fire units arrived. Based on this report the alarm was upgraded to a full first alarm assignment bringing units from Hanover, Canaan and Hartford, VT and to the scene. Meriden and Norwich, VT provided station coverage.
Upon arrival of Fire Units personnel made an interior attack and found a small fire in a 1st floor apartment. The fire was contained to the area of origin. Additional personnel performed searches of all 12 apartments to look for possible victims. The fire was declared under control at 2050 hours. There were no injuries.
The occupants of two first floor apartments, a total of 6 people, were not allowed to return to their units due to smoke and water damage. The remaining occupants could reoccupy their units. The American Red Cross was on scene to assist the occupants of 2 units with housing.
It is important to note that during the search and clearing of the 12 apartments, 8 units were found to have disabled or missing smoke detectors. These are critical life saving devices and must always be maintained in working order.
The fire is not considered suspicious and is under investigation by the Lebanon Fire Department Fire Prevention Division.
