On July 11, 2019, the Lebanon Police Patrol Division began an investigation into fraudulent use of credit cards at various businesses on Plainfield Road. These credit cards belonged to a victim who had his wallet stolen in Vermont.
The Lebanon Police Detectives Division conducted an additional investigation into the incident which led to a suspect being identified as Edward Capasso, age 52, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. This additional investigation also revealed that Capasso had committed identity fraud. An arrest warrant was issued for Capasso charging him with Identity Fraud, a Class A Felony, and four counts of Credit Card Fraud, 1 Class A Felony offense and 3 Class A Misdemeanor offenses.
Capasso was arrested in Massachusetts and extradited to New Hampshire on December 20, 2019. Capasso is also wanted by the State of Connecticut and was charged with being a Fugitive from Justice, along with the above listed charges from the Lebanon Police Department. Capasso refused the services of a bail commissioner and was transported to the Grafton County House of Corrections, pending arraignment on December 23, 2019 in the Grafton County Superior Court.
