The deadline for voters to change party affiliation prior to the 2020 Presidential Primary will be Friday, October 25, 2019.
Registered voters will be unable to change their party affiliation after the October 25, 2019 cutoff date or at the polls on election day. Party affiliation changes for the 2020 Presidential Primary must happen before the October 25, 2019 deadline.
How to Check Your Party Affiliation
Voters are highly encouraged to check their party affiliation using the NH Voter Information Lookup system or by calling the City Clerk’s Office at 603-448-3054 before the cutoff date to be certain they are registered as expected.
How to Change Your Party Affiliation
Registered voters who wish to change their party affiliation before the October 25, 2019 cutoff date may do so by completing a Party Affiliation Change Form and returning it one of the following ways:
- in person at the City Clerk's Office, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm;
- at the Supervisor of the Voter Checklist Session on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Lebanon City Hall between 7:00pm to 7:30pm;
- by mail to: Lebanon City Clerk, 51 N. Park St., Lebanon, NH 03766.
Please note that Party Affiliation Change Forms must be received at City Hall by October 25, 2019. Forms received after this date cannot be accepted.
How it Works
Voters who are currently registered as Undeclared are not required to change party affiliation prior the Primary. Undeclared voters will have the choice on Election Day to select which party ballot they would like to receive.
Voters who are registered as Democratic or Republican will be supplied with the ballot for the party with which they are affiliated.
The 2020 Presidential Primary Date
The 2020 Presidential Primary has been TENTATIVELY set for February 11, 2020 but this date is subject to change based on First in the Nation election tradition in the State of New Hampshire.
