Are Lebanon’s recreation facilities, programs, parks, and conservation areas important to you and your family? If so, please bring your ideas for improved, expanded, or new recreation facilities to the Community Meeting on September 25, 2019 at 7 p.m. at SAU #88 - 20 Seminary Hill, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
The City of Lebanon Recreation and Parks Department is hosting this meeting to hear from those who live, work, and play in Lebanon. Your input will help guide the update of the City's Recreation Facilities Master Plan currently in progress so that it reflects the collective vision of the community. The Plan establishes the long-term goals and priorities for land acquisition, facility improvement and development, programming, and maintenance. Many of the ideas put forward in the prior (1998) plan have come to fruition – most notably the Rail-Trail and Greenway. We want to continue building on these successful efforts and further improve recreation opportunities in the city over the next several decades.
The September 25 Community Meeting will be 90 minutes. It will begin with a brief presentation to provide an overview of the project. Most of the meeting will be devoted to discussion aimed at identifying and prioritizing needs for improved or new recreation facilities in Lebanon. Based on the work done to date, we have heard that completing the Rail-Trail / Greenway connection and extending the Greenway all the way into West Lebanon is a top priority.
We have also gotten feedback that the community needs more field space for both organized sports and unstructured play. The lack of indoor space for recreation activities, particularly in the winter months, is another issue that has been frequently raised. We anticipate talking more about these three issues and other ideas at the Community Meeting.
