Are you curious about transit? If you haven’t used the Advance Transit bus system before, it’s FREE! Maybe you know about the free service but haven’t attempted to navigate its routes and schedule information. Don't wait any longer! The upcoming Hop on the Bus event, sponsored by Vital Communities, will be a great chance to receive hands-on guidance while riding the bus for the first time and gain comfort for future bus travel on your own.
The event will take place on September 5th and provides a free, round-trip ride from Kilton Public Library in West Lebanon to the Lebanon Farmers' Market in Downtown Lebanon, where we all know parking can get a bit crammed.
Riders will board the bus at 3:30 pm at Kilton Public Library in West Lebanon and travel to the Lebanon Farmers' Market in Downtown Lebanon. All riders will receive a $5 token to spend at the market. The return trip will have riders back to Kilton Public Library at 5:30 pm.
Besides the perks of this event, knowing how to ride the bus is a helpful skill to have in general. Riding the bus allows you to:
- use the bus when your car is in the shop
- save money on gas
- downsize your household to one or no cars
- green your footprint
- reduce commuting and parking stress.
The Hop the Bus activity is free and open to the public but registration is required. Please feel free to share this information with your friends, colleagues, and family. You can learn more about this event on the Lebanon Library website or view the Facebook event.
Just think—maybe your teen won’t beg for a car so soon once they learn how many places the bus can take them!
