New Yellow Line
Good news from one of the Upper Valley’s key transportation providers! On August 5, 2019, Advance Transit (AT) launched a new bus route, the Yellow Line, expanding the range of free transit in our region. The Yellow Line operates between of 7:00am and 6:30pm on weekdays, in the morning and afternoon hours, according to the new Yellow Line Schedule.
The new line provides access from Kilton Library in West Lebanon to Hartford, Vermont, including Bugbee Street and the Upper Valley Aquatic Center (see route map). The Yellow Line will also substantially increase service to the VA Medical Center in White River Junction and other points along the Orange Route, with which it shares some stops. As noted in AT's announcement, the new service is being funded by grants from the Vermont Agency of Transportation and the Emily Landecker Foundation.

How to Ride Event
If you've never used Advance Transit and want some guidance (or company) when you do so, please stay tuned for an upcoming “How to Ride" travel training or “Hop on Bus” event in late August or early September being planned by the City of Lebanon and Vital Communities to transport a group of new riders from West Lebanon to Colburn Park to get to a Thursday Farmers' Market.
Reasons to Ride
There are many reasons to use public transit on a regular basis:
- save money (it’s free!)
- increase vehicle life
- recover time from driving to be more productive with other activities
- reduce stress associated with commuting and finding parking spaces
- and lower your carbon footprint.
A household can save nearly $10,000 a year by getting rid of one car and taking the bus when possible, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other pollution from transportation, which is the source of over 50% of household emissions in NH and VT.
Contact Information
AT’s buses support our local economy and help take a big chunk out of environmental impacts—in turn supporting the City’s Master Plan goals. We will address this through another exciting AT announcement soon (think: cleaner energy). In the meantime, for more information about the new Yellow Line or to get involved with the Hop on Bus event, contact AT via AdvanceTransit.com or Associate Planner Rebecca Owens at rebecca.owens@lebanonnh.gov or 603-448-1457.
