On July 24, 2019, at approximately 12:20 PM, Lebanon Police Officer Logan Scelza stopped a vehicle on South Main Street for a motor vehicle violation. After making contact with the subjects inside the vehicle, the officer determined the driver, identified as Andrew Jacques, age 23, of Lebanon, NH, and his passenger, identified as Shayla Malec, age 26, also of Lebanon, were involved in drug activity. K9 Officer Alden assisted on the stop and deployed K9 Nitro for an exterior sniff of the vehicle, where a positive alert for the presence of narcotics was indicated.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, approximately 105 bags of heroin along with a bag of a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine were seized. Jacques was also in possession of over $2,817 in cash.
Jacques was charged with two counts of Possession of the Controlled Drugs, both Class B Felonies. Malec was charged one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug, a Class B Felony. Both were released on personal recognizance bail with a Grafton County Superior Court date of August 12, 2019.
