Winter Operations
Winter weather in New England is difficult to predict. There are many variables affecting winter maintenance operations such as the type of precipitation, air and pavement temperature, traffic, wind, time of day, and day of the week. Winter maintenance is considered an art, not a science.
The City of Lebanon Department of Public Works (DPW) snow removal and ice control plan has been based for many years on the goal of obtaining bare and dry pavements at the earliest practical time following cessation of a storm.
Please keep in mind that the information found on this page is subject to change based on the number of trucks and operators available each season. Since 2008, plow runs listed in the Snow Removal Plan have been consolidated due to staff reductions. Due to the consolidation of routes, an average plow run now takes approximately 4 to 5 hours to complete. The time could be longer if equipment repairs are needed.
Additionally, there are two sidewalk tractors plowing sidewalks this season but they each have more to plow than previous years because sidewalks have been added as part of the City's Combined Sewer project.
Please keep this in mind when reviewing the City of Lebanon Winter Maintenance Snow Removal and Ice Control Plan. We appreciate your patience as we work as efficiently and effectively as possible given the resources available to us.
