The Packard Hill Covered Bridge has been red-listed with a rating of poor by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and is in need of repair. In order to facilitate the needed repairs, the bridge will be closed from April 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020. All businesses will remain open during construction. Riverside Drive will remain accessible via Route 4 and detour signs will be in place to direct traffic from Bank Street Extension to Route 4.
The City has hired AM Graton of Holderness, NH to complete the renovations. This company was the original builder of the bridge. The project will include the replacement of the roof, flooring, structural members to include rods and plates, and will also include a thorough cleaning. These repairs will extend the life of the bridge for another 20 years.
Please check back periodically for any updates to the Bridge Construction progress and any updated schedule.
